Last week we farewelled one of our leadership team, Mrs Cara Howlett as she commences a new leadership AST role at Port Dalrymple School working in the Years 5-8 Sector. Mrs Howlett’s appointment is for one year and we hope to see her back at Scottsdale High in the near future. Mrs Howlett has been a valued member of the school’s leadership and teaching team – her strong commitment to improving student outcomes, caring for students’ wellbeing and her in-depth knowledge of our local community have been greatly valued by staff, students and parents.
We are delighted to welcome Mrs Liz Sharp to Scottsdale High. Mrs Sharp has extensive experience in teaching in NSW. She will be teaching Year 7-10 Music, Year 7 Foods, Years 11/12 Essential Skills English and will have a role as a Support Teacher for Years 9-10. We are very fortunate to gain a teacher who can deliver a music program to our students as we have a number of budding musicians at school. We look forward to seeing our students’ skills grow in the music area.

Sporting Carnivals
This year Scottsdale High School has needed to change the times of the Swimming and Athletics Carnivals. This is to fall in line with changes that NHSSA (Northern High School Sports Association) has put into place. As such, our Athletics Carnival will be held at the Scottsdale Recreation Ground on Thursday 9th and Friday 10th March. Our Swimming Carnival will be held in early November with date to be confirmed shortly. The Cross Country Carnival will remain in Term 2 on Thursday 18th May. Further details about next week’s Athletics Carnival can be found in this newsletter.
These events help to build school culture and provide time for students to build connections with one another and their teachers. From these Carnivals, our school’s interhigh teams are chosen.
